Any fire attack that you do gives a special message and seems to do no damage:

<You attack>, but the fire just seems to make her stronger.

This only seems to work with attacks that aren't completely blocked, although this does not always seem to be true.

Once you "make her stronger" 3-5? times, it gives one of the following, depending if you have a hat equipped that blocks bright light:

The pheonix is putting off waves of heat like the noonday sun. It's a good thing you don't have to look at it.

(Gain 1 turn of Fighting the Sun (protected))

The pheonix is now glowing like the sun, threatening to sear out your eyes.

(Gain 1 turn of Fighting the Sun (blinded))

If you have Fighting the Sun active, and win the fight, you can get a blazing feather. You can get the feather even if it starts blazing on the round that you kill it.

Eating this opponent with Ghoultouched:

You gulp down a mouthful of the phoenix. It feels like it'll burn out your innards, but you feel a surge of x Energy.
