Metroplexity

The good Kinak has given us a countdown to the release of the long-looked for Survivor's Quest. In the scramble to prepare, would-be survivors' heads are rolling, previously rolled heads are finding their necks, alliances are carefully considered by people high out of their mind, and strategies are drawn up in anticipation.

But who will prove themselves best prepared for the unknowable? Post you predictions for the upcoming content here, and if you prove to have the oracle's eye, you will win all our admiration, and perhaps something else as well.

Predictions must be entered in this thread before the rollout of the quest, and will be judged starting on August 10th. Accuracy is of course important, but boldness will also win you points. "Each survivor will have a separate quest line" will likely lose out to a more creative prediction even if it is only half-true.

Examples:
"We'll meet a friendly bearded NPC to teach us a new type of crafting."
"At least 2 new uses for the tome of binding will be introduced."
"The animosity between the fishfolk and the fae will be at least partially explained."

• 1 each of reindeer sweater, New Year's blowout, green glass ornament, painted snowflake, tiny gift, frigid scarf, silk top hat, snowy cookie tin

• 25 piles of cut Nova and 5 piles of red flakes

In addition, considering Kinak's penchant for obscure content, the first person whose prediction is discovered to be eerily accurate after prizes have already been given out will receive a custom flak jacket and a candy bowl as a medal of mysteries solved and remaining.

Odin will be revealed, as will a source of Eclipse.

The Cybernetics Lab will open, and with it a new kind of crafting, and Boris will be helpful in teaching you a recipe or two, if you didn't decide to blow off his head and take his hand and PDA.

Nest Keeper will allow you access to the Webbed Building in the Slags.

Ground Zero will be expanded, allowing you to steal your items directly from your previous lives once you get to that point, allowing access to your previous self's items in a narratively interesting way. You may or may not have to actually defeat your previous self in combat to claim your stuff.

Metallic Oil and the Monarch's Call will interact to pull new things from the sewers beneath Oldtown.

You will be able to find Prof. Evans' comm number by hacking the university system.

In an addition to PvP Gang warfare, you can increase your ability to defend an area by building up favor with the NPC group that holds that area; Carlos' gangers in Southside, the security forces on the Docks, the remains of the Fangs in the Sewers, Third Eye at the University.

There will be more opportunity for more direct uses of the Ocean/Fae Eyes split, and the spherical egg will hatch into something useful.

The museum will open and have an exhibit on Norse mythology.

We will be able to travel to Oldtown, and there will be a shop there that will allow us to purchase more stuff with cash to use more of our oodles of creds than a college bookstore will allow. (More expensive than a college bookstore? Inconceivable!)

I should mention that most of the limited-time content I'm giving out is courtesy of bonbon, who gifted most of his inventory to me when he quit the game a while back. Real Life In Peace, bonbon.

We'll finally have an in-depth discussion with David about the Ghoul King.

We'll finally be able to make Sea Sapphires.

There will be at least six rewards for the quest.

We will be given a choice adventure with at least one option to do something very, very stupid.

It will be possible to meet a Third Eye member higher ranking than Hawk.

We'll be able to advance the Dr. Thomas quest.

There will be a new type of drone, with an etheric counterpart.

Dr A will be more important with the encrypted PDA being necessary to crack

David will have some sort of etherhunting side quest

We'll have another shot at killing off the survivors, including Hel this time

Dr Myer's assistant will get back from the hospital

Someone beat me to this, but the spherical egg will do something, possibly as a sacrifice to the fishmen, or some sort of a corruption that you re-introduce to the fairies.

We'll meet Heimdall, or at least find a lot more about him

You can team up with Hammer if you've done things right

Watson Sr. Will show up, and you can kill him

You can pointlessly murder more people, for negligible benefit. (Whether or not this is true at launch I'll endevor to make happen.)

You can come across gangboss and tony if you let them get away

Coming late to the party here, so for some things I just have to agree with earlier posters, e.g. the encrypted PDA probably kicking off the quest one way or another. (I doubt we'll ever see the sea sapphire, though. I'll bet that got turned into the Extreme Tackle Box.) But, hmm, let's see …

Safe, Boring Predictions

• A weapon with a power of 12
• A piece of equipment that grants 4 melee defense or ranged defense
• A chain 8 stealth technique
• Several additions to the ranks of hacking opponents
• A new place to go fishing
• Another chance to pick up a Tome of Binding
• Many misplaced apostrophes. :P

Slightly More Adventurous Predictions

• Abductions galore!
• A non-ghost ship
• An immersive web site
• New, interesting stuff hidden away in the Midgard Warehouse
• The Brothers will make a cameo appearance
• The opportunity to learn to make witchfire
• A sidequest from The Golden Chip
• A new kind of plantable spore, and, in general, Fae Eyes getting a lot more interesting
• A big info-dump on Project Munin
• The opportunity to help Dr. Johnson make his twisted hounds
• The ability to get a student ID and do stuff in the Metroplex U dorms
• Andrea the Grad Student discovers something noteworthy

Swinging for the Fences

• New chemistry component: demon ichor
• Adventuring in the depths of Lake Metroplex with consequent underwater breathing apparatus and/or weird, disturbing substitutes therefor
• A hacking boss fight vs. a twisted AI
• Burned-out car chassis, for us to dream about being able to rebuild after the next main quest line update
• The ability to construct a crude, portable force field device
• An amorphous, shoggoth-ish opponent

• Two new areas to control in gang warfare
• The Webbed Building will contain clues about the identity of the Weavers, but the Weavers themselves will have abandoned it some time ago.
• There will be clues that the Second Orbital War was started deliberately by Midgard Industries. Internally, Midgard will refer to this war as "Project Ragnarok"
• Lo will turn out to have betrayed you in the past. His current loyalties will still be unclear.
• Evidence will suggest that you were originally opposed to Midgard, but then switched sides.
• An entirely new type of damage will be introduced.
• It will be revealed that there is a plot to introduce Eclipse directly into the atmosphere, so everybody is always on it.
• Hawk will tell you to drop a mission without any questions and you will have the choice whether to take notice of that.
• There will be a chance to run your own business
• You will get at least one of the musicians that you can get chips of as a contact. He will introduce you to a new drug, while talking in a bad English accent. The word "awight" will possibly be overused by him.
• New exciting ways to annoy your opponent will be added to gang warfare, to the delight of clubs across Metroplexity.
• Fop will continue to sneakily edit this post as he thinks of new ideas. He will also speak about himself in the third person, for no discernible reason.

That's my all time favourite movie…

- Boris will have another quest to give.

- The Squatter King will also provide another quest.

- We will have an encounter with another sentient being from the Ether.

- New chemistry recipes using Eclipse will be found.

- Dr Thomas will become available as a contact at some point if you didn’t get her contact info via eavesdropping in the Fang’s hideout.

- Part of the Survivors Quest will involve the scientists separating and hiding in various parts of Metroplex since hanging out together at Mikhail’s isn’t the smartest idea.

- At some point, Lo will be clued into the character’s mysterious past and become more open with what he knows about Eclipse and Midgard’s motives.

- We will learn more about Migard’s motivation for kidnapping bums in the Southside.

- Hacking into the Midgard mainframe will become possible.

- There will be a new gang warfare control zone (I believe it will be one, not two).

- There will be a choice encounter with one option that involves jumping out of a helicopter (or modern equivalent to that vehicle).

- There will actually be women at The Happy Hour and the nightclub will become less of a sausage fest.

Hmmm…Can you not see the time stamp on my post and edit as a moderator? I live in the Central Time Zone which means rollover happens at 19:00.

My initial post was made 30 Jul at 18:00, one hour before the Survivors’ Quest rolled out.

I made one edit nine minutes after the initial post to this thread. The time stamps are right there.

I apologize for the late entry to your contest, but my I got home from work only a couple hours before the Survivors’ Quest went in and had little time to play Metro throughout this week. I’ll understand if you deem this too late to be recognized as a legitimate entry but my post was in fact “entered in this thread before the rollout of the quest” as is stated in your rules.

If you need further proof, compare the time difference between the stamp of my edit to the stamp on the first wiki edit (rev. 0) that was made since rollout occurred.

Shoutout to everyone with good predictions - there are quite a few - but of all the completely accurate predictions, Slags Runner's was the boldest (the scientists splitting up was also a close contender from the same contestant).
