Dusty Encounters

The following encounters are associated with three related unearthly items: dusty clipboard, orbital watch, and wispy hospital pants.

Dusty Clipboard

Pinnacle of Fire

  1. gain 20 turns of Disaster on the Horizon

Hunting Fire - (After passing Pinnacle of Fire)

  1. Let it consume you - gain 6 XP Will* or learn Dust Conflagration
  2. Try to ride it - gain 6 XP Perception* or learn Dance of Ashes
  3. Call your soldiers (After siding with the nationalists via the orbital watch) - gain 6 XP Will
  4. Call a drone (After siding with the corporations via the orbital watch) - gain 6 XP Perception
  5. Just run - gain 6 XP Reflexes* or gain 20 Flaming Encouragement

Gimme Shelter - (After passing Hunting Fire)

  1. Beg for entry - gain 3 XP Perception, or in various disguises: gain 20 Survival Bulwark
  2. Hammer at the door - gain 4 XP Strength, or with hammer weapon: gain 3 XP Strength*, or with sledgehammer weapon: gain 20 Survival Bulwark
  3. Abandon it - gain 6 XP Will*

Sheltered Woman - (After passing Gimme Shelter)

  1. Treat her - gain 4 XP Perception*
  2. Just chat - gain 20 Unchanging Survival*
  3. Leave her there - gain 20 Ruptured Organs*

Orbital Watch

Well Appointed Tower

  1. Talk to the CEO - gain 20 Creating Distance, unlock Speaking With The Executive
  2. Approach the king - gain 20 Creating Distance, unlock Audience With The King
  3. Chat with the runner - gain 20 Flicker of Peace
  4. Try to broker peace (After chatting with the runner) - gain 50 Flicker of Peace, or, if you have helped both CEO and king consider peace: learn Time of Peace skill or gain dove plaque
  5. Explore the battlefield end encounters*, and with Unchanging Survival: learn Cutting Crossfire

Speaking With The Executive - (Choosing to talk to the CEO)

  1. Agree to help - gain 20 Corporate Hunt, unlock Drone Command Center
  2. Suggest new designs - end encounters*, or with army drone model: gain 20 Flicker of Peace (first time) or learn Orbital Demonstration
  3. Leave her be - return to Well Appointed Tower

Drone Command Center - (Agreeing to help the CEO)

  1. Scout Africa - gain 2 XP Perception, gain information
  2. Scout the Americas - gain 2 XP Reflexes, gain information
  3. Scout Eurasia - gain 2 XP Strength, gain information
  4. Scout Oceania - gain 2 XP Will, gain information
  5. Request resources - gain 1 legion
  6. Launch the attack! - allocate legions
    1. Make the call - ends encounters*, or, if correct allocation: learn Time of War skill or gain army drone model
    2. Not quite yet - nothing

Audience With The King - (Choosing to talk to the king)

  1. Agree to help - gain 20 Corporate Hunt, unlock Dreaming Dust Castle
  2. Suggest peace - end encounters*, or with national crown: gain 20 Flicker of Peace (first time per day) or learn National Call
  3. Back out - return to Well Appointed Tower

Dreaming Dust Castle - (Agreeing to help to the king)

  1. Look for Hound Drones - gain 2 XP Perception, gain information
  2. Search for Spider Drones - gain 2 XP Reflexes, gain information
  3. Seek out Missile Drones - gain 2 XP Strength, gain information
  4. Hunt for Dragons - gain 2 XP Will, gain information
  5. Launch the attack!
    1. Make the call - ends encounters*, or, if correct allocation: learn Time of Collapse skill or gain national crown
    2. Not quite yet - nothing

  2. Give him a coin (with dusty coin) - gain 50 duration of Boon of Generosity, lose 1 dusty coin
  3. Give him old coins (with old coins) - gain 50 duration of Boon of Protection, lose 1 old coins
  4. Offer medical attention - gain 2 XP Perception or, with enough First Aid gain 4 XP Will
  5. Talk to him - information; and if you have given him money or medical attention, unlock Dragon's Pit
  6. Walk away - gain 2 XP Will

Dragon's Pit - (After talking to the Dusty Beggar after helping him, and not slayed dragon)

  1. Challenge the beast - ends encounters*, or with ? Fire Defense and a sword/spear weapon, unlock Dead Dragon's Pit
  2. Sneak past - ends encounters*. or with ? Stealth Defense, gain dusty coin
  3. Pluck the flower (if you haven't plucked flower today) - gain 2 XP Will, or with CONDITION??, gain flower of the dragon
  4. Beat a retreat - gain 2 XP Reflexes

Dead Dragon's Pit - (After slaying dragon)

  1. Meditate - learn Breath of Dust
  2. Grab some treasure - gain dusty coin
  3. Pluck flower (if you haven't plucked flower today) - gain 2 XP Will, or with CONDITION??, gain flower of the dragon
  4. Gather some blood - ends encounters*, or with gloves: gain dragon blood
  5. Leave it be - gain 2 XP Reflexes

Sorceress's Blessing

  1. Ask for a blessing - nothing, or with dusty coin: gain 50 Boon of Commerce, lose dusty coin
  2. Ask about the castle - information
  3. Mention the Fool (after talking about blessing or castle) - information; further unlocks after besting the fool
  4. Discuss the Queen (after talking about besting the fool) - something happens
  5. Offer the flower (with flower of the dragon, after talking to the Princess) - lose flower of the dragon, gain draught of immortality, 50 Boon of Commerce
  6. Talk about magic - gain 3 XP Perception, or with tome of spells: gain 6 XP Perception and learn Lesson of Spells
  7. Leave her be - gain 2 XP Will

Shining Castle

  1. Head inside - UNKNOWN, or, if you have slayed dragon or successfully challenged marksmanship: gain 4 XP Will, unlock castle encounters
  2. Challenge their marksmanship - gain 2-4 XP Perception and/or Reflexes; allow heading inside with proper combo of weapon+techniques
  3. Storm the castle - ends encounters*
  4. Enjoy the fresh air - gain 2 XP Strength and Will

Notes

Encounters from wispy hospital pants take precedence over orbital watch and dusty clipboard encounters, and orbital watch encounters take precedence over the dusty clipboard. This seems to match the chronology of the encounters.

Encounters marked with * end all dusty encounters for the day.
